This project has been accomplished and the guest book has been closed. We would like to thank to all people, who provided their comments to this project here. Sasha GrigorenkoAffiliation: The University of Manchester
It is nice to see a place where metamaterials are investigated from different perpespectives on a basis of a rigorous theory (in contrast to hand-waving or ad-hoc hypotheses). It appears that the scientific community could benefit strongly from the project which would allow to demythtify some optical properties of new metamaterials (whether community will choose to that is another question - normally a rigirous theory is quite complicated and does not normally generate pretty pictures!). Thanks you for the effort! Wednesday, 16 March 2011 Philippe BAROISAffiliation: CNRS - Universit de Bordeaux - Coordinator of FP7 METACHEM project
The material scientists in the METACHEM project are experts in nanochemistry, nanostructures, self assembly, etc... but not in electromagnetic characterization of the fabricated nanostructures. This is the reason why we built up the METACHEM consortium that gathers all relevant expertises, but this is also a good reason to find interest in the ECONAM project. The need of interaction between METACHEM and ECONAM will increase in the upcoming months when the first generations of "real" materials become available and experimental data are collected. We encourage the METACHEM partners to use this website and I am confident that METACHEM will benefit from the ECONAM project in the near future. This is an excellent professionally designed web site. The information is very useful and well structured. Even though I am not using on a daily basis, it is very useful and reassuring to know that there is a place where I can find authoritative answers to my questions regarding metamaterials in their manifold. I also appreciate that the content is not limited to personal views of the web site developers. Magnonics and magnonic metamaterials are not well represented (there is only a link to our own web site) but this is to be expected to be fixed in future, when the sub-field is better developed and its identity has properly formed. We are a SME company very interested in developing Metaterial based products. We think that projects as ECONAM really help to develop this technology and finally find applications in a real world. The contents of the web page are really useful and the information provided by the project is also very interesting for developing new nano materials. Nano-structured metamaterials are an extremely interesting area of study and the potential for creation of innovative materials in Trackwise field of RF antennas is something that we are keen to be informed about. This is a very useful source of material; for obvious reasons I particulalry welcomed sections for beginners and industrialists! Keep up the good work. The available documents in the download section are very useful - not only for PhD students. I really appreciate to have such nice prepared lectures and recommend them to interested colleagues, customers and research partners. I also like the "news worldwide" which keeps me regularly updated. Just a small remark regarding text editing: sometimes - especially when text is longer - it is hard to read. Larger font and wider spacing might help. Thanks for your effort. Monday, 07 February 2011 Kiyoshi ShimamuraAffiliation: SWING Ltd.
This web site contains lots of useful information about the state-of-the-art optical characteristics of novel and exotic nanostructured metamaterial. With this knowledge one should be able to avoid misleading conclusions from measured data, and I like the suggested pragmatic approach to approaching desired "material functionality" directly.
