During the second project year, the European Commission asked the project to add a new activitity and organize a familiarization workshop for new NMP nanomanufacturing projects, selected within the call on nanostructured metamaterials. The workshop took place in Brussels in December 2009.

One of the lectures delivered at that workshop was a detailed overview of the state-of-the-art and challenges in electromagnetic metamaterials (C. Simovski, Aalto University, co-autored by V. Podlozny, VI). We post the lecture slides here.

In addition, ECONAM partners delivered tutorial lectures on fundamentals of electrromagnetics of materials and metamaterials and an overview on current metamaterial research.
