Extensive information about artificial electromagnetic materials (metamaterials) can be found on the web site of the METAMORPHOSE VIRTUAL INSTITUTE (one of the ECONAM partners).

The Metamorsphose VI runs an international doctoral school on metamaterials, which includes courses on electromagnetic characterization, see EUPROMETA doctoral programme.

Advances in approaches to electromagnetic characterization of complex materials are extensively discussed in the series of conferences on metamaterials, organized by the Metamorphose Virtual Institute, see the following links:

Metamaterials'2011 Congress
Metamaterials'2010 Congress
Metamaterials'2009 Congress
Metamaterials'2008 Congress
Metamaterials'2007 Congress

The European Commission funds several nanofbrication projects which were selected within the FP7 NMP calls on metamaterials and on self-assembly techniques, see the web pages of these projects below:

EU FP7 ENSEMBLE project
EU FP7 NANOGOLD project
EU FP7 NIM_NIL project
EU MAGNONICS project
EU FP7 METACHEM project

Within the ICT priority area, the European Commission funds a project on development of tuneable metamaterials and metasurfaces based on microelectromechanical systems (MEMS):

EU FP7 ICT TUMESA project

Also within the ICT area, the European Commission funds a FET open project on photonic metamaterials:

EU FP7 ICT FET PHOME project
